OPERATION OF REACTOR MARIA

Radiation protection.

All the problems related to the operation of nuclear facilities are dealt with the Radiation Protection Measurements Laboratory (RPLM). The main tasks of RPLM are:

Monitoring of radioactive substances releases to the air and water;

Measurement of radioactivity main components of environment and radiation (waters, soil, plants);

Measurement of the radiation due to operation of nuclear facilities in Świerk centre;

Monitoring of radiation doses obtained by the employees working with radiation sources.

The Radiation Protection Measurements Laboratory incorporates the radiation emergency unit of the Świerk centre, the whole body counter and counter of thyroid activity.
